Job description

The Strategic Analysis and Frameworks Team within the Labour Market Policy Branch is seeking experienced APS5 and APS6 Economists with a background in economic analysis to join the team.
If you are a team player, have an interest in working on key government priorities, building an evidence base for change and are keen on providing advice to the Treasurer on a broad range of policy issues, then we want to hear from you.
About the Team:
The Labour Market Policy Branch provides advice to the Treasurer and supports policy making across the APS in relation to higher education, skills and training, and employment and workplace relations matters.
As a Policy/Economist Analyst in the Strategic Analysis and Frameworks Team, your role will involve completing analytical work that seeks to expand understanding of the economic implications of Labour Market policies to inform policy development and advice, as well as drafting and reviewing content for products like the Government’s submission to the Annual Wage Review. A background in economics and/or skills in data analysis (e.g., proficiency in R, Stata) is beneficial.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
Experience in providing policy and economic analysis and advice; experience in data analysis is highly desirable.

Team-orientated, collaborative and have energy and determination to succeed.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to build strong and constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the department, as well as across the team.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Able to make sound decisions and exercise judgment, and be open, accountable and of high integrity.
