MHDA Statement of Intention
The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
The position is a clinical role completing Mental Health Triage assessments for caller to the 1800 Mental Health Line. Part time or full time 7 day rotating roster, including night shifts. The role supports community mental health access in NSLHD and provides support information for callers identified to have other health and wellbeing needs. The role works from an open plan design call centre with natural lighting, parkland views, free parking and modern ergonomic office equipment including telephone headsets and standing desks.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Tertiary qualifications as per clinical discipline (Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology) with full AHPRA registration or eligible for full membership with AASW.
- Demonstrated experience working within mental health settings, and skills conducting mental health triages and assessments across the age-span.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage consumers over the telephone. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and challenging circumstances and
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a critical environment.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and analyse complex issues with proven conceptual thinking skills for effective problem solving and decision making.
- Advanced computer literacy with demonstrated experience in the use of Windows-based applications and touch typing skills
