The Opportunity
The Freedom of Information Section (FOI) is seeking a high-performing officer to join the section as Director to manage complex FOI requests and reviews. This strategic role will enable you to work closely with senior leaders to drive outcomes that support the department’s management of legal compliance and sensitive FOI disclosure risks.
The section’s work is varied, fast-paced and critical to the department’s operations. Directors provide advice to senior management and portfolio Ministers on FOI matters.
We are looking for Directors with diverse relevant experience across FOI and information disclosure practices. Legal qualifications are strongly preferred.

be able to identify and manage risk in all areas of decision-making
manage and develop a team to deliver high-quality outcomes within statutory time frames
have sound judgement and critical thinking skills that will enable them to support the team to manage FOI disclosure risks
have excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
have demonstrated problem solving experience using judgement while managing risk
have strong inter-personal and coordination skills, in particular the ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
