What you'll be doing
- Provide safe, comfortable transport for patients requiring transfer to Health Care facilities or destinations within and external to the District.
- Transport staff and deliveries as requested, including transportation of blood, and pathology samples.
- Monitor and maintain vehicles and equipment.
On the NSW side of the Murray River, Buronga is a beautiful rural town with a large Indigenous population. Just 6.5km from Mildura Victoria, many of our staff live in the booming regional hub of Mildura and travel the short 5 minutes to work. Mildura has a population of over 50,000 and growing with all the facilities of a regional city, yet is uniquely positioned in the scenic, sunraysia region, famous for its sunshine, and horticulture including grapes and oranges. While Mildura thrives as its own destination, it is also a great base for touring many iconic natural wonders and picturesque locations nearby including the world renowned Mungo National Park!
Selection Criteria * Current licence to drive in NSW with a proven safe driving record, verified by a Roads and Maritime Services licence summary prepared within the month prior to applying for the position.
- Current Advanced First Aid Advanced Cardiopulmonary (HLTAID006), Advanced Resuscitation/ CPR (HLTAID007) certificates as minimum qualifications, with ability to successfully complete further mandatory and refresher training as required
- Sound communication skills, including the ability to write accurate clinical records, to communicate effectively and respectfully with health professionals about clinical matters (within the scope of the role) and to provide sensitive customer service to a diverse range of clients.
- Ability work both independently and collaborate effectively with others as a member of a team.
- Ability to accurately identify the ways in which Work Health and Safety legislation and policy applies to non-emergency patient transport. Physically capable of transferring patients, loading, unloading and manoeuvring patients around, on and off stretchers or wheelchairs.
- Ability to accurately plan and prioritise allocated responsibilities to effectively manage daily workloads and perform in high volume and pressured environments.
- Sound information and communication technology skills- in the use of computer hardware and software programs for word processing, emails, documentation, internet access and telephony.
- Knowledge of challenges of working in a remote area.
