NNSWLHD Aboriginal Mental Health is seeking Peer Support Workers for their Tweed & Grafton services to provide individual and group support to consumers and carers by working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient centred recovery. Developing supportive empathetic relationships with consumers based on Lived Experience of Mental Health Issues by empowering consumers with skills and strategies to aid their personal recovery.

Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such

If you have:
A recognised relevant minimum Certificate IV Qualification and work experience relevant to this position
Personal experience of mental health issues and recovery, understanding issues faced by people with mental health issues and using recovery principles. Ability and willingness to share personal lived experience of mental health issues and recovery in a professional manner
Knowledge of, and ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer led interventions or consultations
ommunication skills and ability to build effective partnerships and work cooperatively with others, including service staff, consumers and mental health networks within a multidisciplinary team environment
