Job description
The Account Manager, Local Government position is a newly created position that allows you to use your skills and experience to develop strategic relationships within local government. This exciting opportunity requires someone who can build trust and influence key decision-makers. The successful applicant will work collaboratively across a small, agile team and an organisation that values your work.
With the support of various internal stakeholders, you will develop, enhance and build a national network or relationships with decision-makers, increasing the number of councils supporting the scheme and increasing the volume of crumb rubber use locally. This role will give you pride in your work, but you will also be proud of how national and local governments and councils contribute to finding efficient and productive uses for end-of-life tyres.
Key skills for this role are leadership and relationship building and a strong focus on service delivery and attention to detail.
Proven experience working in the government/council or road sector
Stakeholder engagement - Relationship and influencing skills.
Sustainability/Circular Economy experience.
Teamwork and collaboration skills.
Strategic thinking.
Communication, presentation, and public speaking.
What you will need to be successful
Provide leadership to this sector and become the Tyre Stewardship Australia ambassador to local councils and relevant associations.
Develop key national strategic relationships with key decision-makers at the Local Government level. This may also include liaising with relevant State Government representatives.
Develop and deliver Tyre Stewardship Australia's strategy to grow participating councils that support using crumb rubber across their municipality.
Increase the annual volume of crumb rubber and other end of life tyre related products across local councils in Australia

About your new organisation
Tyre Stewardship is a not-for-profit company established to deliver the National Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme. We aim to increase resource recovery, minimise the environmental and human health risks associated with used tyres in Australia, and develop Australia’s tyre recycling industry and markets for tyre-derived products. Tyre Stewardship Australia accredits participants across the tyre supply chain, including tyre retailers, manufacturers, recyclers and collectors, who are committed to supporting the scheme's objectives. Tyre Stewardship Australia has over 1700 participants.
