The Company
The client is an Australian owned & operated manufacturing/wholesale company specialising in the excavation industry. With continuous growth and future expansion on the cards, they are seeking an experienced Accountant oversee the finance department & team.
This role will be full-time and 5 days per week on-site at their Eastern suburbs Office, with flexible start/finish times.
The Role
As the most senior finance team member, you will take ownership of the department and be responsible for overseeing the AP/AR team members. Your responsibilities will include:
Financial Accounting:
- Oversee the accounts department's day-to-day activities.
- Ensure all financial records & transactions are accurately entered into MYOB in a timely manner
- Advise and mentor accounts department personnel on correct allocation of transactions
- Maintain and allocate project costs.
- Supervise petty cash payments
- Maintain asset register for all companies
- Prepare financial reports for management and stakeholders - P&L, Cashflow, Sales.
- Design and create reports as requested by other departments including sales and operations.
- Financing for purchase of equipment and vehicles.
Management Accounting:
- Cashflow and budget forecasting and analysis
- Comparison of budget versus actual to analyse the companies' financial position
- Financial analysis & identifying trends in data to help management make decisions on the future course of the companies.
- Cost & stock analysis
- Evaluate and dissect investments and loans
Tax:
- Oversee BAS reports, lodgements, and reconciliations.
- Understanding regulations, laws, and acts for the tax system.
- Compiling data for tax returns and ensure the data is correct.
- Liaising with the External Tax Accountant on tax matters within the companies.
Your Profile
You will be CPA qualified, with at least 5 years' experience in a similar role and have:
- Experience with group company accounting including intercompany transactions/loans
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Great initiative and strong time management skills
