Job description

Ai Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre have multiple exciting opportunities available under the Victorian State Governments Youth Employment Scheme (YES). The YES program offers people aged 15 to 29 a career kick-start with traineeships in the Public Sector within various administrative support positions. Positions are located within the Melbourne CBD.


Ai Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre have multiple exciting opportunities available under the Victorian State Governments Youth Employment Scheme (YES). The YES program offers people aged 15 to 29 a career kick-start with traineeships in the Public Sector within various administrative support positions. Positions are located within the Melbourne CBD.

In order to be eligible for the YES program, candidates must be:

  • Aged 15 to 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
  • Unemployed or not working more than 15 hours per week
  • Not hold a completed qualification higher than Certificate IV.

The program has a focus on addressing barriers to employment. Priority is given to young people who:

  • Have left school without completing Year 12
  • Are from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Are at risk of homelessness
  • Are young offenders
  • Have a disability
  • Live in social housing.

You will learn to:

  • Provide support in the collation and distribution of documents.
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with managers and staff to assist in the professional operation of the business unit.
  • Perform a range of administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner including answering routine queries, taking messages, following up on action items, arranging meetings and agendas, photocopying and filing.
  • Perform computer-based tasks including preparing and sending standard written communications, maintaining databases and registers.
  • Other administrative support as required.

About you:

  • A desire to work and develop your career within the Public Sector.
  • Commitment to a 12-month traineeship, while undertaking a Certificate III Business on-the-job.
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and enthusiasm with a high work ethic and can-do attitude.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Honesty, reliability & punctuality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Sound written communication skills.
