About the Business

Our Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those in the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities and people with complex and exceptional needs.

About Us:

Community Youth Justice (CYJ) provides statutory supervision and case management services to children and young people who are subject to supervised youth justice mandates within South Australia.
CYJ works in partnership with internal partners and other government and non-government services to promote community safety and meet the identified support needs of young people.
This includes assisting young people to plan and achieve goals and maintain compliance with court mandates.
Our mission is to provide focused, responsive and culturally appropriate services and programs to young people that encourage pro-social behaviours by developing partnerships which strengthen connections, support re-integration and build community safety.

The Case Manager is a role within Communities and Justice and is accountable to the Supervisor, Community Youth Justice for:

• Addressing offending behaviour through the application of Social Work knowledge, skills, practice frameworks, methods, and applying ethical decision making models for complex and/or high risk children and young people as per Australian Association Social Work (AASW) Code of Ethics within the constraints of the statutory environment.

• Supervising Statutory Youth Justice mandates and providing quality through-care case management to children and young people.

• Assessment, analysis, reporting and recording on offending behaviours and compliance and professionally assessing criminogenic trends, causal patterns and treatment effectiveness for children and young people.

• Strengthening child/young person and family functioning to support non-offending behaviour.


Special Conditions

Successful applicant will be required to hold a National Police Check (NPC) no less than 6 months old, and satisfactorily complete an Employment-related Screening Check where this is required for the role, prior to being employed.
Some out of hours work, and intra and interstate travel involving overnight absences, may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued Driver’s Licence (equivalent to minimum class ‘C’ – South Australian), which must be maintained.
Incumbent must be willing and able to drive all government vehicles within their licence classification during the course of their duties.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) contract role or as negotiated.

Essential Qualifications:
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work leading to eligibility for (full) membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO:   Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, social sciences, human services, health or a related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department Human Services.
Role Status: Term up to 27/12/2024 (Multiple roles available)

Salary Range: $67,466-$82,359 (AHP1) $67,466-$82,359 (PO1)
