Product Owner – Deloitte AI Solution Studio

Work in a part of Deloitte that is driving a product-oriented growth agenda
Growing team where you can work as part of an empowered product team within the newly created Deloitte Software Group
Flexible work arrangements – work in a way that suits you best

We’re after a talented and passionate Product Owner to join a Product Team within the Software Group, working with cross functional teams to strategically drive the product incubation, development, Go-To-Market and sales opportunities specifically for Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.

About the product portfolio

Our mission in the Deloitte Software Group (DSG) is to scale our smarts through tech to multiply impact with our clients. The breadth of Deloitte’s consulting network provides us with a rich source of customer problems and industry challenges, many which have no clear solutions. Whether it is making supply networks more transparent, helping enterprises transition to the workforce of the future or measuring the less visible impacts of business on the planet, we’re here to solve problems that matter. This presents the DSG team a rare opportunity to explore and validate problems, ideate and test potential solutions, then incubate and turn concepts with traction into scalable products. This is an exciting time to join an emerging and rapidly growing capability within the firm.

What will your typical day look like?

Your day-to-day activities will include helping lead a team of data scientists, software developers and business analysts in designing and developing our AI solutions. You will work in partnership with the Tech Lead and development team to shape the roadmap for each solution aligning to agreed objectives and helping achieve that roadmap. You will engage with stakeholders within Deloitte to understand the business outcomes to be achieved. You will drive the product discovery process; speaking with customers to understand problems, workshopping ideas with your team to solve identified customer problems, testing protypes and observing user testing. You will coordinate the delivery of validated product features and ensure they are having the desired impact on KPIs and OKRs.

On a typical day, you will:
Design the product roadmap and the creation of go-to market materials articulating the value proposition of the products
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, with a focus on securing long-term, profitable engagements
Work with the team to create a product backlog, prioritise features in the backlog for development
Work with the development team to identify and resolve any issues or roadblocks that may arise
Collaborate with stakeholders across the firm and Subject Matter Experts to create a shared vision of the product and the objectives
Continuously gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and users to improve the product
Support pre-sales activities by helping prepare for product demos to potential clients

About the team

Deloitte Software Group is focused on identifying, selecting, and developing technology-based products that turbo charge our consulting services and enable our consultants and our clients to tackle their most burning and complex problems. We design, develop assets and scale these into solutions in an incubator environment. Our product teams typically comprise of a Product Manager/Owner, Tech Lead, Software Developers, Data Scientists as well as Product Marketing and Sales practitioners. The specific team, the AI Solution Studio, that you will be working with within the Deloitte Software Group is working on several computer vision, simulation and generative AI related products within mining, agriculture, health and justice sectors.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You are passionate about product ownership and driving customer-focused solutions to market. This means you are a self-starter and thrive in complex environments. Strong communication and stakeholder skills will allow you to excel at collaborating in a cross-functional environment. Strong influencing skills enable you to positively impact product roadmaps, whilst an appreciation for and understanding of AI technology enables you to form a strong relationship with the Tech Lead and Dev Team to achieve a balance of desirability, usability and viability with technical feasibility in the product. Above all, we want a curious person who loves to design products that achieve the intended outcome for clients.

Experience, education & technical skills:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a product owner, manager, or in product development
Experience building capability in startup-like environments, from concept to go-live
Knowledge of and experience working with agile methodology and product management
Experience facilitating agile ceremonies, such as stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Experience using and managing agile and project management tools, such as JIRA and Trello
Ability to write clear and defined specifications for user stories and features
Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills to promote product vision and progress
Ability to build strong relationships and communicate with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
Customer-focused with an understanding of customer needs and the ability to evangelise them
Ability and desire to coach, support, and develop team members
Undergraduate or Master's degree in a relevant area, or equivalent work experience
Experience with simulation, analytics, and AI is desirable but not essential

We encourage anyone who possesses a strong combination of the above experience and skills, regardless of background, to apply. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate that they are passionate about creating great products that solve customer problems, who drives innovation, who has a continuous improvement mindset, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and who is driven to deliver both customer and business value.
