THE ROLE - The Alex & Co Head Chef will supervise daily back of house restaurant operations. Responsibilities include supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully stocked kitchen inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. In this role you should be able to manage our kitchen staff and guide them to deliver quality food on time all the time. A chef that is particularly experiences and passionate around Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.
Ultimately, the Alex & Co Head Chef will ensure all orders are properly cooked and served and our customers have a pleasant delicious dining experience.
Key Professional Traits:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef (or equivalent).
- High performance within a food retail management role.

- Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced busy work environment.
- Hands on experience with planning menu’s and ordering ingredients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inventory & Suppliers
- Accurately manage the inventory and food ordering of your store
- Ordering of all kitchen supply purchases, equipment and stock management
- Staff Management
- Manage and train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques
- Lead a team food prep staff and provide a positive work environment for all
- Provide ongoing quality training, support and development for the team
- Manage your stores weekly shifts and rostering requirements
- Food Quality
- Supervise and coordinate food preparation, orders, portion sizes and cooking
- Checking food plating and temperature before service
- Management
- Plan and price menu items in collaboration with management
- Achieve set KPI’s across labour and cost of goods
- Provide accurate daily, weekly, monthly etc reporting back to head office
- Operations
- Responsible for opening and closing of back of house kitchen
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices
- Familiarity with kitchen sanitization & safety regulations
