The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Allied Health - Senior (Complex Discharge Service and Multi-disciplinary Avoidance and Post-Acute Services) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide high level clinical decision-making to support patients on discharge from hospital and for patients in the community
- Deliver high level clinical services, advice and navigation for patients with significant clinical, functional and psychosocial complexities
- Provide independent senior Allied Health clinical counsel and advocacy in your area of expertise to the multi-disciplinary team and the broader Health Service
- Apply high level independent professional judgement in identification and management of discharge barriers and complexities of patients
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Dietitian: A tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Occupational Therapist: A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy and registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Physiotherapist: A tertiary degree in Physiotherapy and registration as a Physiotherapist
- Psychologist: A tertiary degree in Psychology (or equivalent) and registration as a Psychologist
- Social Worker: a university level Social Work degree accredited by the AASW and membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Speech Pathologist: A tertiary degree in Speech Pathology
- Blue Card/Working with children check
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required

- Base salary ranging from $4,409.80 - $4,745.20 per fortnight
The Multi-disciplinary Avoidance and Post-acute Service (MAPS) provides a 7-day a week multi-disciplinary service which provides care in the community in the vital two weeks following hospital intervention to enable seamless transition of care for discharged patients. In particular, those who would otherwise have to wait longer in hospital for allied health interventions or up to two weeks at home before receiving ongoing community service from the Non-government Organisation (NGO) Sector, family or other services providers.
