Aml Systems And Data Analyst

The primary purpose of this role is to support BOQ's risk based Financial Crime detection systems including the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Transaction Monitoring Programs, Entity and Payment Screening, AUSTRAC regulatory reporting, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence and Know Your Customer Refresh activity.

You will provide financial crime data and analytics insights to assist in identification, management and mitigation of financial crime risk in co-ordination with the broader Financial Crime Risk team and the Financial Crime Risk Strategy.

• Support the development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of Financial Crime Risk detection systems and data environment.
• Provide application support for the Financial Crime detection systems.
• Track, manage and assess issues using data analytics, and supporting issue resolution.
• Produce data analytics deliverables in relation to Financial Crime Risk, including exploratory data analytics, and end of month Management Information Reporting.
• Contribute to the development, review and update of process and system documentation.
• Contribute to the design of technical data mapping from source to target including transformation rules.
• Contribute to data governance processes and procedures, including business rule definition and documentation.
• Liaise with both operational and technology functions across the BOQ Group where required to complete inquiries.
• Adhere to internal policies/procedures.
• Assist with related Financial Crime Operations and/or other business projects with a Financial Crime Risk impact, as required.
• Keep abreast of new technologies in relation to data analytics, emerging ML/TF trends and issues.
• Support maintenance of key financial crime analytics controls and control self-assessments.

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience within a financial services institution, preferably within a data analytics function for Financial Crime Risk.

• Relevant tertiary qualification or study towards would be desirable
• Training/qualifications in Data Science, Financial Crime Risk eg AML/CTF or Fraud
• Experience in overseeing and implementing AML/CTF or Sanctions systems and controls such as transaction monitoring and sanctions screening processes
• 1+ years working in system and data analytics; in the area of AML/CTF and/or Sanctions would be desirable.
• Experience working with Financial Crime systems - detection/transaction monitoring, screening and case management.
• Experience in data infrastructure design and development (desirable).
• Experience with relevant systems & programming languages (SAS EG, SQL, MS Access, MS Excel, VBA, Power BI).
• Experience working in a digital banking environment (desirable).
• Excellent analytical skills, able to work with large data sets to identify patterns and trends and form conclusions.
• Understanding of the banking codes of practice and other relevant legislation including the AML/CTF Act and Rules, Autonomous Sanctions Act, Privacy Act (desirable)
