About the Role 

An essential role instrumental in the collection and transportation of various animals to and from RSPCA NSW facilities including branches covering all of NSW.

  • Assess and collect injured animals and deliver efficiently to RSPCA Veterinary Hospitals
  • Provide exceptional care for animals when transporting
  • Collect surrendered animals and ensure relevant documentation is completed in line with policy, procedure and process
  • Provide basic first aid to injured animals to ensure that their condition is stabilised prior to transportation
  • Liaise with external agencies such as NSW Police, Council Rangers, Veterinarians
  • Prepare food and provide water to all animals during transportation and upon delivery
  • Collect and deliver supplies to various RSPCA NSW sites
  • Assist with animal rescues and Inspector Operations as required

This position is on a full-time basis and will require the successful candidate to work alternating weekends and occasional public holidays.

About You

  • Certificate II in Animal Studies/Handling/Management – advantageous
  • Unrestricted Class C NSW Driver’s License 
  • Certification in animal first aid would be highly desirable or willingness to obtain
  • Previous experience handling animals in a professional environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and use initiative
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong relationship management skills and a team player
  • Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling (min. weight of 20kgs), climb ladders and work in restricted spaces
