You will join the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Housing and Homelessness Services, which serves as the liaison point for the Director-General's and Minister's offices. Utilising your expertise, you will coordinate the work flow for Housing and Homelessness Services and oversee the administration functions of the Deputy Director-General.
Your responsibilities include providing integrated advice on strategic, operational, and corporate governance issues affecting the Division. You will manage the operations of the Office of the Deputy Director-General to ensure high-quality, professional services to senior management and the Office of the Minister.
Your responsibilities will include:- Provide an effective liaison on behalf of the Deputy Director-General to branches of Housing and Homelessness Services, the Office of the Director-General, other areas of the department and external stakeholders.
- Provide professional and timely advice to the Deputy Director-General on strategic and operational issues associated with housing and homelessness services.
- Coordinate information and documentation requiring Housing and Homelessness Services responses and contributing a strategic perspective, where appropriate, on behalf of the Deputy Director-General.
- Obtain relevant advice and maintaining liaison with key areas of Housing and Homelessness Services to ensure timely resolution of policy and procedural matters referred for action.
- Attend meetings and participating in forums on behalf of the Deputy Director-General, accompanying the Deputy Director-General to meetings and actioning recommendations as required.
- Undertake special projects of a complex, sensitive and contentious nature as assigned by the Deputy Director-General
- Actively participate in and contributing to the good governance and objectives of the service area and the department.
- Oversee the management of the office.
- Manage additional staff and activities, as required.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.
- Highly developed analytical and strategic skills to provide direction and advice at a senior level.
- Experience in managing diverse operational activities and projects to achieve agreed results.
- Superior written and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, communicate, negotiate, influence, network and consult at all levels within Government and with external stakeholders.
- High quality advice and use analysis, experience and critical judgement to make information decisions that are rigorously considered and supported by clear rationale.
- Personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
