The Formation Incident / APS Manager in the Headquarters Land Combat College plays a pivotal role in managing Land Combat College’s most serious, sensitive and strategic issues and is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex human resource work within an integrated workforce. The effective conduct of the role ensures support to our personnel and the Defence chain of command, whilst protecting and promoting Army’s reputation and capability.
The purpose of the Formation Incident Manager function is to provide the means to have incidents reported, tracked, coordinated and resolved in a timely manner. Through a command-led approach, and backed by a responsive, consistent and auditable Incident Management framework, the Incident Manager will work with the Chain of Command and other key staff across Army to manage incidents.
The purpose of the APS Manager function is to provide detailed human resource professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
Situated within Patterson Hall, Duntroon Garrison, Canberra, the Formation Incident Manager will operate within a close-knit team, directly supporting Land Combat College’s headquarters function.
About our Team
The role of Land Combat College is to be the conduit between our higher headquarters (Headquarters Forces Command) and the relevant subordinate Training Establishments. Land Combat College and its subordinate units are the Army’s foundational institutions responsible for enabling, supporting and orientating the ab-initio soldier enlistment, officer commissioning program, individual initial employment and specialist training and career development courses.
The Headquarters Land Combat College team is a small but motivated and experienced cohort, comprising APS and uniformed members. The climate within the team espouses an adult workplace environment and a respectful open discourse between its members. Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work with autonomy and limited supervision and able to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment. They will have high level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders internally and externally, at all levels.
To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate high level Administration and foundational Human Resource experience with a focus on analytical and administrative competencies which are necessary to meet the unique demands of the position. They should be adaptable, approachable, flexible and comfortable during change and have a high degree of digital literacy. Previous experience working within HR systems and data bases is desirable, with the requirement to adhere to confidentiality.
