Air Warfare Centre PLANS (AWC PLANS) is seeking enthusiastic and resourceful APS6 applicants for the role of Staff Officer - Communications Planning.
The primary responsibility of the position is to work closely with the planning team to deliver the enabling support effect to each exercise and trial assigned to AWC. The exercises and trials vary from large-scale activities such as the DIAMOND SERIES of exercises, to weapon trials such as Exercise Griffin Fury. You will focus on delivering the Communication Information Systems (CIS) planning effect which includes:
- planning for secure networks in remote locations;
- liaising with exercise participants and CIS providers;
- delivering the CIS effect at planning conferences;
- ensuring aircraft / platform integration through voice and data systems;
- contributing to planning orders and documents for the comms effect; and
- effectively communicating with agencies across the Defence Organisation, Industry and Allied military forces.
The AWC, located within Air Command, contributes to the overall mission by delivering timely and relevant advice to the warfighter.
AWC PLANS sits within HQ AWC Directorate of Operations (DOPS) and is responsible for planning Air Force exercises and trials. Planners from different fields (including logistics, admin and safety) collaborate to deliver high quality, significant events to the participants and customer. The planning teams vary slightly for each activity however they all work closely together, led by SO2 PLANS. Travelling with the team to conferences or to conduct site surveys is a desirable requirement that assists to build working relationships with planners and participants based in other locations.
