The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia’s national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General’s Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.

About the branch
The Chief Information Officer Branch (CIO) is responsible for the availability, continuity and security of ACIC’s intelligence, national policing, research and corporate information systems and services both domestically and overseas. The CIO Branch collaborates with ACIC’s national, international, jurisdictional, portfolio and industry partners to design, drive, champion and deliver innovative technology capabilities. It also provides the agency’s Enterprise Architecture function and administers ICT governance, policies, procedures and standards.

About the role
Our End User Support Technicians provide high-quality desktop, laptop, mobile, and audio-visual support to ensure our intelligence, technology and enabling teams have access to the ICT services they need when and where they need them. You may be required to travel to ensure ICT infrastructure is available and upheld in various locations to meet operational demand.

As a member of a small multi-disciplinary team, you will have well-developed troubleshooting and analytical skills, a commitment to ongoing professional development, and the ability to foster relationships in order to deliver high quality advice and support to stakeholders, including the senior executive.

Our ideal candidate
  • Demonstrable experience analysing and troubleshooting complex desktop, laptop and mobile technical enquiries, including the ability to apply sound judgement to problem solve when faced with competing priorities
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills including a demonstrated ability build and maintain effective relationships through liaison, consultation, and information sharing
  • Is experienced in supporting and managing local and virtual windows environments through tools such as Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD), SCCM, SOE & group policy, and Intune
  • Maintains Technical skills and operation experience in VMware Horizon View, including management of Horizon Servers, Desktop templates, and VDI desktop pools are key in supporting our ICT environment
  • Shows an understanding or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge regarding complex ICT environments and a desire in further developing skill to understand changing ICT environments
  • Can prove their ability to work to tight timeframes, to set priorities and to meet deadlines both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Eligibility
  • If this role is being advertised as ongoing and non-ongoing, it may be offered as ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 18 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 3 years.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance for this role. All ACIC employees are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
