Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 500,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We have several Project Officer vacancies across multiple teams within the Service Guidance and Practice Branch. The Service Guidance and Practice branch aims to create world class guidance. They translate Agency policy into clear and customer-centric guidance so that people with disability can have choice and control over their lives. Their goal is to deliver world-class guidance.
The APS 5 Project Officer position works with the team to develop , , knowledge articles and internal standard operating procedures. These documents help front line staff make consistent decisions when working with participants. These documents also help participants, families and carers understand the policies and processes of the NDIS.

Where you can add value

The APS5 Project Officer will manage considerable level of communications with internal and external stakeholders, provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries. The position will provide policy advice within an area of specialisation with advice based on policies and legislation.
A suitable applicant can expect to contribute the following activities within these roles:
  • Develop project plans and assist in project management activities
  • Draft content for a range of written material including Our Guidelines, knowledge articles and Would We Fund It examples
  • Use your plain English writing skills to translate legislation, rules and policy into audience appropriate content
  • Provide advice, procedural guidance and technical expertise in specific areas of project work
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve program, project and business outcomes.

This role is ideally performed from Newcastle NSW, Richmond VIC, Geelong VIC or Adelaide SA.

This recruitment process will fill multiple Ongoing and Non-Ongoing vacancies and will develop a merit list for future opportunities that may arise over the next 18 months.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
