About the Team: The Reconsiderations and Appeals team is responsible for the statutory reconsiderations of Comcare claims decisions and management of the Agency’s response to Administrative Appeals Tribunal applications and court appeals. The team works closely with the Senior Director, Claims, the Claims Operations teams and the Agency’s Legal Group to achieve positive outcomes for employees and employers. About the role: The APS5 Reconsiderations Officer works as part of the team responsible for the statutory reconsideration of workers’ compensation claim decisions. The APS5 Reconsideration Officers support the Assistant Director, Reconsiderations and the Senior Reconsideration Officers through research, analysis, claim file review, drafting and making recommendations, and communications with stakeholders. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Contribute to the Agency’s purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.Apply a well-developed understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks to a variety of interrelated activities and solutions to a range of problems.As part of a team, deliver reconsideration services in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets. This includes monitoring claims management activities andcompliance with Comcare’s rules and objectives. Assist in coaching, guiding and developing less experienced colleagues, as required.Support the Assistant Director Reconsiderations and Senior Review Officers by delivering analysis, research, making recommendations and drafting reconsideration decisions.
