The Opportunity
As a true HR generalist, you will have the opportunity to use your initiative, clear communication and strong interpersonal skills to delivery of responsive human resources support services.
You will be able to build strong working relationship while providing advice to both internal and external clients on a wide range of human resource issues. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to and develop policy and strategies that support the strategic direction of the department.
The Role
As the APS6 Senior HR Officer you will assist with daily functions (payroll, recruitment, workforce planning, employment conditions, performance management, learning and development) of the Human Resources (HR) area and provide a high level of customer service to internal and external clients. You will also be responsible for but not limited to:
Undertaking and assisting with HR projects, including contributing to and developing policy and strategies that support the strategic direction of the department
Investigating, resolving and/or providing advice, as necessary, on issues relating to the interpretation and application of legislation, and the development and application of HR policy, procedures and guidelines
Assist in providing HR advice to the Executive, Managers and Staff on issues of policy and operation relating to HR management, including presentation of information when required
Providing information for regular reports such as Board papers and Audit Committee papers as required and assist with annual reporting, Questions on Notices, staffing/ASL reports, Stated of the Service, Remuneration Survey
Managing status reports for HR, and for other reporting requirement as requested, such as staffing and establishment reporting, exit survey collation and organisational structure charts
Undertaking HR spot check audits for employee conditions and other HR functions as required
Managing resources and performance consistent with policies and Australian Public Service standards
Providing effective day-to-day supervision of reception staff
Participating as a constructive member of the department and provide reasonable support with Branch functions as required
The Ideal Person
To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated and experienced Human Resources Specialist. You will have a proven track record in human resource requirements and payroll, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage HR projects. You will also be able to work effectively as a member of a team with minimal supervision, using your initiative and organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
Salary / Rate
$83k – $99k + 15.4% Super
