Operations Team
Petuna is seeking an Aquaculture Attendant to join our operations team on a full-time or part-time basis. This position is situated at our Aquaculture Farm at Strahan, Tasmania.
Aquaculture Farm employees work on a range of operational duties associated with the day to day running of the farm including the promotion of excellent fish health, welfare and security and ensuring fish are optimally fed.
The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and professional team. The roster pattern will comprise of 8 days on shift and 6 full days off per fortnight. Drive in and drive out arrangements are suitable. Locals living on the West Coast are also encouraged to apply.
Duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager, key duties and responsibilities for the role include:
- Compliance with all safety procedures and protocols.
- Be an effective part of a team with a strong work ethic.
- Understand and follow all farm strategies, procedures and protocols.
- Operate ROV and surface net cleaning machinery.
- Assist with harvesting operations, net construction and fish health, activities.
- Ensure all farm equipment is handled / operated correctly to optimise equipment use and the security of fish.
- Correctly record required information.
- Assist in the control and monitoring of all issues related to air and seaborne predators.
Qualifications Required
- Cert III in Aquaculture or previous experience in finfish farming (or a related field) will be highly regarded.
- A forklift licence, coxswains and/or first aid certificate will be highly regarded.
- Be physically fit, capable for labour work and committed to working outdoors.
- Have a can-do attitude and take pride in completing tasks to a high standard.
- Current Right to work in Australia.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to safety for self and fellow team members.
