About This Opportunity

The Ashby Utting Foundation Arts Administration Internship is a training opportunity for students interested in Art Museum business operations. With opportunities to work across finance, engagement, advancement, and/or marketing and communications, the Ashby Utting Arts Administration Intern will gain a board range of experience assisting with UQ Art Museum business operations.

The position would suit a student who has completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree in Business or Art History in combination with studies in Business. Preference will be given to students studying commerce, finance and accounting who are also studying Art History. Applications from students studying other areas of business and general studies in humanities will also be considered.

Under direction and supervision, the Arts Administration Intern will perform a range of duties that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Finance data entry and general administrative duties including archiving.
  • Preparing correspondence and other documents.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and recording minutes.
  • Providing administrative support to the Operations Manager.
  • Assisting the Advancement Manager and Communications and Marketing Manager with communications activities, events and scheduling.
  • Assisting the Marketing Manager in preparing and recording marketing materials.
  • Assist the Engagement team where necessary.

This is a casual position for 1 day per week for approximately 37 weeks at Hew level 1, with an hourly rate in the range of $37.16 to $38.65, plus superannuation of 11%. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases - at least once a year. This role offers flexible working arrangements and hours may vary from week to week.

About You

Essential

  • Current studies in an undergraduate degree with a combination of studies in both Business and Art History at the University of Queensland.
  • Ability to provide high quality administrative support, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people by telephone, email and in person.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated knowledge of art history and contemporary Australian art.
  • A desire to gain knowledge and skills relevant to Art Museum practice and not-for-profit business operations.
