Assistant Childcare Centre Director / 2IC (Nominated Supervisor) (Emerald VIC)

HEI Schools Emerald Early Learning Centre is a childcare centre located in Emerald VIC with unprecedented new concept where both Finnish and Australian early childhood education concepts are blended together. We are serving the local community and looking for an experienced and open minded assistant childcare centre director who would like to embrace new ideas to support the management to lead the daily operation of this new centre. This is position can be full-time or part-time with the following requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as one of the nominated supervisors and responsible persons of the centre.
• Assist the Centre Director to: Ensure statutory child protection requirements are fully complied.

- Establish and execute educational programs to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional capabilities of children.
- Make sure all the children can receive proper care in the centre.
- Make sure the operation of the centre is safe to provide before school, after school and long day and vacation care services to children.
- Make sure the environment of the centre is safe to staff and visitors.
- Make sure all childcare related statutory regulations are satisfied.
- Make sure all children records are properly maintained in the system.
- Perform staff recruitment and maintain proper records.
- Arrange professional development for staff.
- Make sure the operation of the centre can meet performance targets set by the management.
- Communicate with parents properly especially those with different cultural backgrounds.
- Communicate with our partner in Finland to make sure the operation of the centre is satisfying the Finnish education concepts.
- Communicate with the management to reflect the operation of the centre and to execute the instructions from the management.
- Participate in marketing campaigns to promote the brand and the centre.

Essential Criteria

• At least 5 years of overall experience working in childcare centre in the role of educator, room leader, early childhood teacher, second in charge and/or centre director where at least 2 years as assistant centre director or 2IC.
• Being eligible to be nominated supervisor and responsible person according to the Regulatory Authority’s requirements.
• Familiar with child protection compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of EYLF
• National police check (can be arranged upon commencement) and eligibility for a PRODA account
• Clear Working With Children Check
• Experience in Qikkids and CCS funding.
• Experience in managing a team of staff including roster planning.
• Experience in communicating with authorities, parents and local community.
• Good communications and interaction with families from different cultural backgrounds.

Desirable Criteria

• Having background and/or experience about Finland early childhood education is an asset
• Food handling certificate or above
• Knowledge and network of the local communities

Qualifications

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or any other equivalent qualifications
• Valid first aid qualification for education and care setting
• Valid accredited child protection training
