Assistant Position Description
Qualification, experience and knowledge requirements for role:
- Diploma of Children’s services or Certificate 3 in Children’s service or evidence of working towards approved childcare qualification (quarterly updates must be provided if working towards)
- Child Protection training to be completed every 12 months
- Food Handling Introduction Course to be completed every 12 months
- Current First Aid qualification including Anaphylaxis and Asthma to be completed every 3 years
- CPR updates to be completed annually
- To be aware of and understand requirements of the National Quality Standards
- To adhere to grooming and uniform expectations at all times you are representing the centre
- To have highly developed time management and organisational skills
- To have excellent communication skills
- Current, in date, employee Working with Children Check Card
- To be knowledgeable in centre procedures
- To maintain confidentiality of the service and individuals
Position Objectives:
- To assist the Lead Educator in the daily co-ordinating of inside and outside play spaces.
- To assist in the documentation of each children’s learning.
- To work with other assistants to create a friendly, secure and stimulating environment ensuring the achievement of each child’s educational goals, objectives and learning outcomes.
- To work cooperatively and professionally as a member of a team and assist with the provision of a high quality educational curriculum.
- To attend and participate in monthly team meetings.
- To attend and participate in any Area Management Team meetings for continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties required
- To be aware of and support the Lead Educator’s daily and weekly curriculum requirements
- To assist in setting up and maintaining safe, engaging and stimulating play spaces in both the inside and outside play spaces.
- To assist in completing daily documentation of children’s learning and development on KindyHub
- To assist in ensuring daily documentation is completed include daily information sheets
- To ensure that all children are signed in and out of QikKids Kiosk at all times
- To engage with other members of the team to providing high quality care for at children
- To suggest ideas for the curriculum and implement programs as directed
- To assist in maintain a very high level of hygiene and cleanliness in the room
- To ensure the health and safety of the children in care is managed to the highest level possible
- To report all incidents to your Lead Educator as soon as they occur
- To work in accordance with licensing requirements under the Child Care Regulations
- To understand company policies and work accordingly at all times
- To assist in the professional promotion of the centre within the community
- To give each child individual attention and comfort as required
- To treat each child with dignity and respect; exercising a duty of care and providing a safe and nurturing environment at all times
- To be willing to participate in meetings, conferences and training courses as required annually
(including Child Protection training, food handlers and CPR updates
- To participate in daily cleaning requirements to maintain overall cleanliness of the room.
- To maintain active supervision of children at all times.
- To ensure you always position yourself within the room in an area that allows maximum supervision of the children.
- To document children’s allergies, health problems and medical conditions
- To document accidents, injuries, trauma and illness records as required.
- To maintain sound knowledge of safe sleep and always follow best practice safe sleep processes
- To ask for assistance or guidance from your Lead Educator as required
- Extensive lifting of children and indoor/outdoor equipment will be required
- Nappy changing may be required
- To complete any other tasks as reasonable directed by your Centre Director
- Ensure that all information is kept confidential, unless otherwise advised
- To ensure that all Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met
- To report any workplace hazards to your Centre Director as soon as you see them
- To support the centre to provide a safe workplace
- To read, sign and abide by the Code of Conduct
- To represent the company in a positive manner at all times
- To adhere to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting requirements
- To have read and understood the educator policy handbook and parent policy handbook
- Mandatory training requirements, based on support guidance or identified needs, must be conducted within 8 weeks
- To attend all training sessions organised by the Area Management Team to build your personal development, knowledge and skills
2023 Online documentation Minimum Requirements
All educators employed at Community Kids Haven are to participate in documenting children’s learning. All children are to have one documented individual observation or group observation or snapshot of learning completed on KindyHub every month. All children are to have one documented special events celebration such as incursions or excursions to be completed on KindyHub every month.
Term 1 requirements
- Room introduction letter to be completed and entered by 10th February 2023
- 2023 Centre Philosophy to be completed and entered by 10th February 2023
- 2023 Educator Philosophy to be completed and entered by 10th February 2023
- Term 1 Goals (Individual) to be completed and entered by 17th February 2023
- Term 1 goals (individual) evaluated and entered 6th April 2023
Term 2 requirements
- Term 2 Goals (room) to be completed and entered by 21st April 2023
- Term 2 goals (room) evaluated and entered 23rd June 2023
- Summative assessment for all children completed by 7th July 2023
Term 3 requirements
- Term 3 Goals (individual) to be completed and entered by 14th July 2023
- Term 3 goals (individual) evaluated and entered 15th September 2023
Term 4 requirements
- Term 4 Goals (room) to be completed and entered by 29th September 2023
- Transition statements to be completed and submitted by 27th October 2023 (for funded Kinder children)
- Term 4 goals (room) evaluated and entered 8th December 2023
- Summative assessment for all children completed by 20th December 2023 (for all non-funded children)
