Salary: AU$75000 - AU$90000 per annum + Super + work car + house

Our client is a multi-generational business that has been breeding commercial Angus cattle for more than 25 years across a range of properties in the lower Hunter Valley of NSW. They take great pride in producing cows that are structurally sound, have excellent temperaments, and high fertility rates. They are dedicated to continuously improving the quality of their commercial herd to produce top-notch commercial cattle. Drawing on their vast industry experience, our client has strategically sourced some of the finest cattle available, resulting in remarkable growth. As a result, they are currently seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to join their cropping and livestock operation in Seaham, NSW.
The Role
Situated on the William Rivers near Seaham, the Assistant Farm Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient farming operations of our client's aggregation of farms that span over 1,000 acres across four properties. These properties are all located within a 10-minute drive from each other.
The farm accommodates over 1,800 head of Angus cattle and spans across 700 acres of permanent pasture and fodder crops. As a long-term, permanent role, you will be required to work both hands-on and assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure optimal cropping and livestock outcomes for the property.
Further to the above, your duties will include, but are not limited to -
Assist the Farm Manager with livestock management and cropping activities.
Support, mentor, and direct the farming team in maintaining machinery operations and livestock husbandry.
Prepare cattle for sales and shows by tagging and weighing them.
Prepare property for seeding, ploughing, and irrigation.
Maintain tractors, on-farm vehicles, and install other farm infrastructure as required.
Take ownership of recording on-farm activities, including cattle records, weed spraying, and fertilizer applications.
Perform other general farm duties as required, such as weed spraying, maintenance, and mowing.

About You
Our ideal candidate will be hands-on, organized, and reliable, with a genuine passion for livestock and a proven background in supporting, mentoring, and leading a team in either the cropping or livestock industry. While previous experience in stud management is not essential, it would be highly regarded.
To be successful in this role, it is important you can address the following:
3 - 5 years of experience in livestock (cattle) - stud experience preferred but not essential
Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor a team
Effective communication with good computer literacy
Chemical handling Certificate
Driver's License
