Planet Fitness, is one of the largest and fastest-growing global franchisors and operators of fitness centers with more members than any other fitness brand.The main function of the Assistant General Manager (AGM) position is to directly assist the General Manager (GM) with managing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the gym according to set policies, procedures and business practices. The position reports directly to the GM of the gym and, at the desire of the GM or upper management, can provide supervision to all front desk, customer service, maintenance and fitness training personnel of gym. The position is accountable for achieving the desired goals and expectations of the gym second only to the GM and upper management. The position is also intended as a means of development, training, preparation and succession for the GM position.  

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively promotes the philosophy, mission statement and vision of Planet Fitness
  • Assists the GM in the entire operation of the club according to defined policies
  • Responsible for contributing to the completion of all administrative tasks and reports
  • Assists in supervising all team members
  • Schedules staff to adequately cover needs
  • Assists in training new team members
  • Assists in probationary, 6 month and 12 month team evaluations
  • Assists with the responsibility for member service
  • Assists with the responsibility for cleanliness and appearance of the club
  • Authorizes PO log expenditures at the direction of the GM
  • Accepts applications and assists in interviewing candidates
  • Assists with maintaining attendance records and other records required by law
  • Assists with approving time sheets and coordinates submittal with payroll
  • Contributes to local marketing efforts at the direction of the GM or Senior Leadership
  • Meets and greets potential members and provides them with a tour of the club
  • Assists with handling member problems and questions
  • Assists with ensuring the club opens and closes promptly
  • Pitches in and performs a variety of tasks as needed

Job Requirements / Certifications:

  • Must be currently CPR certified and provide club with a copy of the CPR certification   

  • Must have your WWC (working with children) certificate/ number NSW & VIC, Blue Card QLD from employment commencement date or proof that the process has started. 

  • Must have completed a National Police Check certificate. NOTE- The NPC Certificate must be within 12 months of application date. 

Skills Required:

  • Ability to learn, perform and oversee every job function in the Club
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organization skills 
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of PC business application programs (Microsoft Office)
