ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Manager or Financial Controller, an Assistant Management Accountant is primarily involved in providing managers with the relevant information to facilitate decision-making.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Management Accountant's duties and responsibilities can be varied depending on the organization. However, they may include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing assistance in the preparation of monthly management reports tracking the financial performance of each depot
  • Providing assistance in providing commentary on management reports
  • Providing assistance in the preparation of cash flow forecasts
  • Variance Analysis around actual results compared to the budget and forecasts for each profit and cost center
  • Play a lead role in compiling the annual budget with senior management.
  • Analyzing trends and financial performance across business units
  • Month-end accounting, including reconciliations and journals
  • Supervising and training junior staff
  • Taking part in systems and process improvement initiatives
  • Assisting Finance Manager or Chief Finance Officer with preparing payroll tax and Business Activity Statement Reporting
  • Assisting Accounts receivables and payables on an ad-hoc basis

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

The more common skills and attributes that are most needed for this role may include:
  • Software skills are required as follows
  • At least 1.5 to 2 years of experience with software such as XERO, MS Excel is essential.
  • Experience with approval max, employment hero, Keypay and EzyFms is preferable.
  • Preferred to have at least 1-year of experience in the logistics/transport industry.
  • Experience with cash flow report preparation
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability to analyze complex reports
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting concepts to non-finance staff
  • Organized and structure your daily duties.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Team player and the ability to establish strong relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate business partnering
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Relevant degree in Business/Finance
