Our vision is to make Whittlesea 2040: A Place For All by ensuring our residents can enjoy access to local services, facilities and infrastructure.

Our staff are passionate, skilled and diverse, providing a great environment to work in and succeed.

The Role
Join our team as an Assistant Municipal Fire Officer and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

This dynamic position involves assisting in Fire Prevention, hazard management, and emergency response activities. You will work closely with the Municipal Fire Officer to implement fire safety strategies, conduct inspections, and engage with the community to promote fire awareness and prevention.  This position will assist the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer (MFPO) to ensure council’s fire management and prevention obligations are met before, during and after emergencies.  The Assistant Municipal Fire Prevention Officer role will be authorised by the MFPO and will assist the MFPO to undertake duties in line with councils’ obligations and statutory requirements.

About you
Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to public safety, excellent communication skills, and experience in fire services or a related field. You will be required to organise aspects of the City of Whittlesea’s Fire Prevention program including scheduling inspections and site visits utilising relevant software systems and programs.  You will enjoy coordinating and organising daily work inspections and have strong time management skills.   With open, approachable, and interactive communication skills you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including the community.  You will be a team player and be adaptive to the changing demands particularly around environmental conditions.  A general understanding of the principles of fuel mitigation and vegetation management would be an advantage but is not essential.

If you are dedicated, proactive, and ready to make a difference, apply today to be a vital part of our fire management team.
