Job description

Role: Assistant Program Manager

Salary: $71,500-$105,000 full time equivalent (base salary, not including 9% superannuation) (precise salary to be determined based on level of experience). At CPI we are also open to other ways of working so part time or compressed hours are an option.

Location: This role is an Australia-based position. CPI ANZ is a remote-first team, meaning that we have no central office and will support our staff to work from a home office, or co-working space, or a combination of locations anywhere in Australia. If applying from outside Australia, you should ensure that you meet the necessary visa and work permit requirements as we may be unable to act as a sponsor or provide visa support. We will not be considering applications from Aotearoa New Zealand staff as part of this recruitment round, but hope to in the not-too-distant future.

When: Looking for a commencement date in March 2023

Reports to: Regional Director, ANZ

At the Centre for Public Impact (CPI), we believe in the potential of government to bring about better outcomes for people. Yet, we have found that the systems, structures, and processes of government today are often not set up to respond to the complex challenges we face as a society. That's why we have an emerging vision to reimagine government so that it works for everyone.

A global not-for-profit organisation founded by the Boston Consulting Group, we act as a learning partner for governments, public servants, and a diverse network of changemakers who are leading the charge to reimagine government. We work with them to hold space to collectively make sense of the complex challenges we face and drive meaningful change through collaboratively creating the conditions for learning and experimentation. In Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, we do this by:

Designing and delivering bespoke learning partnerships for government teams who are either embarking on significant change agendas, facing challenges or barriers, wanting to collaborate differently with partners and/or other stakeholders, or simply wanting to explore new ways of .

Convening conversations, hosting events and stewarding our .

Designing and facilitating workshops and learning programs on key topics of interest including: leadership in complexity; storytelling for systems change; funding in complexity; Human Learning Systems and more.

The ANZ team was established in March of 2020. The current team is made up of Thea Snow, Keira Lowther, Alli Edwards and Jessica Fuller.

Over the last two-and-a-half years, the CPI ANZ team has been working to build a presence, develop strong relationships, and secure a pipeline of work in ANZ. We have an exciting and busy time ahead, and are looking for a new member to join our team.

We are a small and agile team, and therefore need someone who is willing to work across the full spectrum of tasks - from administrative work to blue-sky thinking. We are experimental in how we work, and seek to reflect the beliefs, values and principles in how we organise ourselves as a team. This means (amongst other things) adopting a “tight on values, loose on delivery” approach to our work; working as a team to collectively set our vision and priorities; and thinking hard about who makes which decisions, and why - we don't default to “decision-making from the top.”

Core Responsibilities:

Design and Delivery of Learning Partnerships

Contribute to the design of learning partnerships, events, learning programs and workshops - for example, drafting runsheets, designing workshop materials, designing learning circle sessions etc.

Assist the delivery of learning partnerships including facilitating large and small group sessions, hosting listening sessions, working with the team to offer facilitation support etc.

Contribute to learning partner reports (our summary report at the end of each learning partnership).

Develop and foster relationships with our partners to ensure effective program delivery.

Manage timelines and deliverables through effective internal and external communication.

Strategy and Operations

Work with the team to define and shape our team Objectives and Key Results.

Contribute to conversations with potential new partners.

Contribute to project proposals.

Attend CPI ANZ Research Committee and Board meetings and provide administrative help as required (e.g. writing minutes).

Think about not just what we do, but how we do it - identify and proactively propose ideas around how we can work collectively more effectively with our partners, and as a team.

Thought Leadership

Distil lessons learned from project work into higher level thought leadership that connects to CPI's mission to reimagine government.

Publish blogs - model working in the open.

Position Requirements, Skills, and Core Competencies:

We are seeking a team member with:

At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience

A passion for CPI's

Skills and knowledge in how to design and facilitate learning experiences

Excellent interpersonal skills, including feeling confident building new relationships

Strong written and communication skills

Strong project management skills

Ability to communicate effectively and manage internal relationships and external senior-level stakeholder relationships

We are a small and still-quite-new team, and we are learning as we go! To thrive as part of the team you will be:

intellectually curious and passionate about continuous learning

dedicated to cultivating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace

a proactive self-starter, willing to take initiative and work autonomously

excited about joining an international organisation and be willing to make the effort needed to build relationships and stay united with colleagues in different timezones

comfortable with ambiguity and the complexity of our work, where there are many possibilities but the route ahead is not always known in advance

a believer in the positive potential of government to catalyse impact

comfortable working in ways which are flexible and which can look quite different to a 9am-5pm style of job

creative, high-energy, and a little bit quirky.

. We would also be offering professional development funds; generous paid leave (at least 5 weeks per year of annual leave, plus a year-end office closure, paid sick leave, and paid cultural and religious leave); and paid parental leave. We are a remote-first workplace and are open to qualified candidates from anywhere in Australia.

CPI is an equal opportunity employer. Applicants will not be discriminated against because of race, colour, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, religion, national origin, citizenship status, disability, ancestry, marital status, veteran status, medical condition or any protected category prohibited by local, state or federal laws
