About the Role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Project Officer to help support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects across the North-west Slopes & Plains, New England Tablelands and wider Central North region, including the multi-million dollar Fire Access and Fire Trail (FAFT) program. The primary objective of the FAFT Program focuses is to enhancethe park’s fire trail network and associated infrastructure to meet new Rural Fire Service fire trail standards and improve fire fighter safety. .
As an Assistant Project Officer, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of high level administrative and project support, including project research, analysis (GIS), reporting, implementation and related administrative tasks to support the development and delivery of FAFT program. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has the initiative, ability and desire to work within a small, dynamic and productive team. It would be desirable to have some public sector knowledge, and experience delivering construction projects within a natural resource setting or those with remote area logistical challenges. An understanding of road construction would be beneficial but not essential.
Please note this role will involve occasional travel (fully supported) to remote locations and towns within the Northern Inland Branch, an incredibly diverse branch that encompasses approximately 23% of the state, stretching from the eastern escarpment of the Great Dividing Range to the semi-arid floodplains of the Darling River in the west. Once you see a North-West sunset you never forget it!
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Experience in working with government agencies, project managers engineering disciplines and varied construction contractors
- Experience in assisting project teams to meet construction deadlines and milestones to the required standards and within budget.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive internal and external stakeholder relationships and contribute to the project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes and priorities
Essential requirements
- Experience in the provision of administrative and support services
- Experience in development and delivery of programs and projects
- Understanding of contemporary project management principles and practices.
