The Monash eResearch Centre (MeRC) team transforms impactful research into the digital age by applying advanced computing, data governance, and information technology. The Opportunity
For today’s global challenges, problem-solving involves connecting researcher-made data analysis into applications in our local and international communities. The software team within MeRC applies Python, agile and DevOps capabilities to these applications.
We seek an experienced Full Stack Developer to become a part of the software development team. The ideal candidate can hit the ground running within this team.
What to expect in this role:
Co-design and develop innovative software applications to overcome challenges underpinned by research data/big data
Working in a highly collaborative, results-oriented, and friendly agile DevOps team
Develop, implement and support web applications using cutting edge technologies
Develop APIs and set up data pipeline through APIs to integrate developed portals with other platforms
Build scalable cloud services and functions that integrate with a variety of data stores and 3rd party services
Maintain partnerships with individual, national and international research groups
Develop and support open source solutions in collaboration with international groups
As the ideal candidate, you will need:
Proven experience using Python for back developments
Experience in developing applications with Django backend framework
Experience in AngularJS or ReactJS, Bootstrap, HTML5 for front-end developments
Experience building REST APIs and database management using SQL/MySQL/Postgres
To be a creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge
Forensic eye for detail, with the capacity to prioritise and manage time effectively
Experience writing documentation and creating unit & automated test suites to increase code quality and effectiveness
Cloud-based CI/CD experience
We welcome software developers, eResearch experts, researchers with computing experience, and data scientists who want to make an impact within an agile and DevOps environment. Experienced Full Stack developers in Java/PHP/.net are also welcome to apply. It would help if you were comfortable becoming an expert in Python, Django and React JS in a short period.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
