As part of the Strategy, Portfolio and Investment branch of Sydney Trains, the Reporting, Analytics and Insights (RAI) team is passionate about turning data into information and insights to help the business make better decisions and drive action.
With a strong focus on making the right choices and value delivery, we partner with the business to support decision making by providing easy access to efficient, trusted and governed reporting, analytics and insights and ensuring data is used to provide transparency, visibility and accountability.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a permanent opportunity for a forward-thinking Assurance Reporting Manager to join the team.
The Assurance Reporting Manager in Sydney Trains Reporting, Analytics & Insights (RA&I) Function leads a team of discipline specific Assurance Reporting Coordinators.
The team produces independent assurance reports to Sydney Trains' Executive Management Team and other stakeholders, on the integrity and safety of the rail system and fleets managed and maintained by Sydney Trains. This work helps the organisation meet key assurance obligations and supports informed decision-making to address risks and issues for rail system integrity.
The Assurance Reporting Manager plans and drives the team’s overall program of work and contributes hands-on to deliver an Annual System Integrity Report.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Manage a team of reporting coordinators who proactively develop and utilise data and information sources and stakeholder networks, relevant to the assurance of system integrity.
- Monitor system integrity data and information and report on issues as they arise, to support a collaborative approach to address those issues.
- Deliver a layered annual program of assurance reporting on rail system integrity and system safety, setting plans and priorities and defining requirements in consultation with key customers and stakeholders.
- Support development and communication of policies, procedures and instructions to support consistency, reliability and accuracy in system integrity reporting.
- Identify opportunities of improvement of existing processes and procedures.

About you
With tertiary qualification in communications or equivalent experience, you bring strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to produce executive-level reports, submissions, briefing notes and related documents.
You are competent in managing competing priorities, identifying risks to delivery such as change in tools, systems, data sources and evolving organisational priorities.
You have the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and technical matter experts across the business to achieve desired outcomes within tight timeframes.
Ideally you will have a broad understanding of the assets, systems and processes that are required to operate and maintain a safe and reliable rail system, however detailed knowledge and understanding of assurance practices in a similar industry will be considered.
You will employ systems level thinking to identify and report on risks and issues, which may arise across multiple organisational branches and functions, that could potentially impact system integrity.
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is RC Grade 7 (7A $143,555) – 7E $157,945) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
