The Finance Advisor reports to the Senior Finance & Planning Manager Australia with the accountability of providing high-quality commercial input to the Australia Gas Business, bringing deep understanding of the overarching structure and driving commercial success across complex energy value chains.

The role is responsible for managing domestic gas marketing activity, including negotiating sales contracts; creating and implementing the carbon offset strategy; and supporting a broad range of business activities working with internal and external stakeholders including strategy development, negotiation, representing bp in various Joint Venture forums, investment valuation and governance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Investment Appraisal & Commercial Assurance
  • Provide commercial insights that protect and maximise bp value through a deep understanding of the gas business and contractual positions;
  • Manage domestic gas sales portfolio including strategy and sales contract negotiations;
  • Creating and implementing carbon offset strategy, including understanding of federal and state policy framework and impacts on the Australia Gas Business and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to optimize greenhouse gas management;
  • Manage Joint Venture activities within the asset according to contractual obligations, represent bp in support or lead role when required;
  • Reporting to internal stakeholders on commercial elements and greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Support development of presentations to senior management and analysis for internal governance process for project approval, as well as external compliance reporting as required eg SMOG;
  • Provide business judgement and analytical, modelling and investment governance support to the business in compliance with bp’s economic evaluation methodologies and group investment guidelines.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
  • Tertiary qualification in a finance/commercial discipline

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years post graduate experience in Finance/commercial role
  • Demonstrated bias for action, self- starter and proven on-time delivery of deadlines
  • Solid team player who builds multi-disciplinary networks to enhance effectiveness and knowledge sharing, while promoting a positive team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial negotiation and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
