Reporting to the Operations Manager – New Machines, The Auto Electrician Specialist is accountable for the completion of New Mining Machine assembly and dealer provided options - HMS, Excavators, Drills, Wheel loaders, Dozers, Wheel dozers, Graders, Scrapers, Off Highway trucks, Water carts, service trucks.
To ensure a high standard of electrical installation to meet customer requirements ensuring that it meets Caterpillar specifications and WesTracs engineering Dealer provided option standards and regulations. This work is to be carried out efficiently and complying with standard job times, to optimise customer costs and return on investment.
In addition, whilst completing electrical work there is a requirement for a strong desire to mentor & train less skilled technicians and apprentices on industry standard assembly and maintenance required on electrical components and systems in operation on mobile construction and mining fleet assets.
Location: South Guildford
Roster: Monday – Friday – 10.5 hours including break
To be successful the following is required:
- Applicable to Metro based roles only.
- Apply safe systems of work and implement risk control measures
- HD Auto Electrician qualification with Advanced diagnostic skills
- 5+ years post trade experience including Field Service exposure
- CAT Dealership experience with traditional Caterpillar mining and construction fleet HMS, Drills, OHT, Grader, Dozers, Loader etc
- High level of competence on mobile low voltage electrical & Air Conditioning systems with advanced schematics skills
- Ability to work with others & customer work groups, instruct/teach & knowledge share
- Provide support with failure details in relation to repair v’s replace methods
- Advanced ability to interpret repair & fault-finding using guides (CAT SIS)
- Intermediate knowledge of work-order management including repair documentation
- Provide diagnostic feedback to WesTrac support team/customer, advanced ET skills
- Advise WesTrac /customer of emerging fleet issues or failures
- Compile supporting documents regarding fleet performance/failures
- Assist customer with warranty & replacement requirements, including warranty provisions
- Provide WesTrac / customer with concise parts lists
- Understanding of machine applications
- Applicable to Dual Trade only if working as Auto Electrician in an Auto Electrical position number (SAP)
- Applicable to Leading Hands only that book 100% recoverable hours
Education/Certificates
- Relevant Auto Electrical trade qualification with a minimum of 6+ years’ maintenance experience with OHT and Fleets associated with mining applications.
- Air conditioning arctic license
Experience and Knowledge
- Strong auto electrical maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities
- Ability to work off schematic drawings
- Demonstrated understanding of machine application on site, optimum operation knowledge.
- Caterpillar Dealership Experience 2+ years
- High risk licence with certifications to work at height, operate EWP and forklift/telehandler
- Deep Auto Electrical experience on mining equipment
- Advanced stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships.
- Demonstrated training and instructional skill set – knowledge share
- Proficient in the use of Caterpillar software programs, Sis2, ET, DBS (parts availability)
- Intermediate knowledge of work order management including work scope repair and estimation documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Electrical Safety Competency to safe systems of work and implement risk control measures.
- High level of competency with electrical schematics and systems.
