Banker Digital Experience (BDX) Tribe is responsible for majority of systems and tools in which Bankers across the Contact Centre, Branch and Business use as well as managing communications to all Bankers.
As a Backend Engineer, you will work closely with the team to build the world class products in design, development, quality validation, publish, monitor, improvising the solution, to deliver on the Tribe’s customer outcomes. The role is responsible for building world class solutions that cater to digital channels for uplift. You will be a champion for learning and adopting to new technologies, productivity tooling.

What will your day look like
As a Backend Engineer, you will:
- This role involves understanding the requirements, designing, developing, testing & delivering.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable cloud-native applications using Java SE 11+, J2EE, Servlets, JSP and Spring framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and implement best practices for cloud-based architectures.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using Codefresh (or any build pipeline) to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable software delivery.
- Work closely with DevOps engineers to optimize infrastructure and deployment strategies for cloud-native applications on GCP.
- Perform code reviews, identify areas for improvement, promote continuous learning and growth within the team.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal functionality and reliability in production environments.
- Implement observability principals within the development lifecycle and create reporting Dashboard in Splunk or equivalent tools.
- Ability to write optimised SQL quires and work with NoSQL solutions as well.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices for cloud-native development on GCP.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Total of 4 to 6 years’ of relevant experience
- Deep appreciation for building backend services and APIs for third party consumption
- Experience in modern development practices and languages such as: Java, Go, NodeJS, etc.
- A strong and in-depth understanding of cloud, CI/CD practices, and modern development practices. Tooling such as GitHub, Github Actions, Artifactory, Hashicorp, Gradle, NPM/Yarn, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, SonarQube, etc.
- Experience in of DevOps practices and tools for infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, and continuous delivery.
- Experience working in one or more database technologies mainly SQL Server
- Experience in J2EE, XML, JMS, Web Development, Javascript, Web APIs for device integration
- Cloud certification preferably in GCP would be an added advantage.
