Job description

  • Exciting work and career development opportunities
  • Learn to apply Behavioural Science to solve important client problems
  • Enjoy flexible work arrangements - work in either our MEL or SYD office + WFH

Behavioural Science is one of the fastest growing areas of consultancy globally for both companies and government agencies. A career-start with The Behavioural Architects will equip you with skills that will be relevant no matter how your career develops over time.

What we’re looking for
This rare opportunity will suit someone with real interpersonal skills and a “can do” attitude, who is looking for a career to bring out the best in themselves. We want people who can write and present their thinking clearly and who combine both analytical and creative thinking abilities. Working across a diverse client portfolio, we’re looking for an intelligent, thoughtful, and action-orientated individual to help our clients better understand behaviour and ultimately lead behavioural change in commercial, not-for-profit and government categories.

Your new company
The Behavioural Architects is a global insights, research, and strategic consultancy. We specialise in understanding and influencing behaviour, and our methodologies are based on cutting edge Behavioural Science. Our purpose: To combine Behavioural Science excellence with creative thinking to develop highly actionable solutions for the most important problems. We look to always create positive impact with our work.

We work with clients from a diverse range of government agencies, not-for-profits, and industries. We help them with design, communication, innovation, and behavioural understanding. Our clients come to us because we are able to help them find solutions to difficult and challenging problems. These might include – how to encourage people to behave more safely around trains, how to encourage people to plant more trees, how to improve people’s financial behaviour, how to reduce bullying in a workforce, or guiding the development of a new chocolate bar! The work is varied and always interesting because all our clients share the common interest in solving problems and achieving their organisational goals through better understanding human behaviour. You will learn about Behavioural Science and equally importantly, how to apply it to solve real-world problems in ways that our clients can easily implement.

Your new role
As our newest Behavioural Strategy Associate, you will be closely involved in developing and evaluating Behavioural Change interventions and strategies for our clients.

In pursuit of the role as described above, you will:
  • Assist in the formation of behavioural objectives and the development of behavioural hypotheses for projects
  • Assist with the development of insights into behaviour using qualitative and quantitative research informed by Behavioural Science
  • Contribute to effective behavioural research projects from client brief, behavioural research design and analysis
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of behavioural strategy recommendations across a wide range of topics
  • Assist in developing presentations that activate behavioural change
  • Support and contribute to The Behavioural Architects culture, values and behaviours
What you’ll need to succeed
  • You have completed your relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Behavioural Science or Behavioural Economics – MSc preferred though not crucial
  • The ability to digest a large volume of information and insights and form a coherent point of view – your essay writing skills will have been outstanding
  • You’re a real ‘go getter’ in the sense of proactively seeking to take responsibility for work and tasks and you have robust project management skills
  • You have an existing knowledge base of qualitative and quantitative techniques and are the kind of person who sees constant learning and development as a career necessity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. We work in teams all the time so your ability to interact clearly and positively with internal and external stakeholders is essential
  • You base your creativity and intuitive leaps on a rigorous foundation of data, logic, and analysis. You will need to learn how to use Behavioural Science as a springboard for creativity as well as a framework for analysis
  • You are client focussed and a real team player – someone who will make an active contribution to the culture of The Behavioural Architects
Be part of our unique culture
  • A nurturing environment where help is happily offered, asked for and received, priorities are clearly communicated, and workloads are balanced across the organisation
  • Enjoy a workplace that is committed to creating cultural harmony and performance excellence in all aspects of our work
  • Opportunities to build relationships and achieve results ethically and with integrity with dynamic companies in technology, healthcare, finance, and consumer goods, as well the important work of diverse government departments
  • Outstanding professional pathway as we are committed to learning, developing and sharing our knowledge in the application of Behavioural Science
  • We focus on creating a happier, healthier and harmonious workplace in which our people can thrive with a wide range of programmes including flexible working arrangements, 5 bonus ‘personal days’ in addition to annual leave, an annual social and cultural events calendar and an Employee Assistance programme to support mental wellbeing
  • Flexible work arrangements – we have offices based in both Sydney and Melbourne and support hybrid working from home arrangements
If you’re looking for a unique and highly rewarding opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. And if you meet a few of the requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

Please note: Only successful candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process. Thank you for your understanding.
