Job description

BuildSkills Australia (BSA) is a Jobs and Skills Council, funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.  BSA provides independent advice on current, emerging, and future workforce skills and training requirements.  The organisation works with unions, employers, state and territory governments, and education and training providers to ensure the ongoing improvement of skills development, employment opportunities and economic growth.

As a national network of industry-owned and industry-led organisations, Jobs and Skills Councils provide strategic leadership in addressing skills and workforce challenges, aligning efforts across industries to improve system responsiveness, build stakeholder confidence and drive high-quality outcomes for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, learners, industry and business.  BSA offers a strong, strategic voice in VET to drive collaboration, address strategic workforce challenges and ensure that employers and individuals can access the right skills at the right time.

BuildSkills Australia offers an exciting opportunity to join its Industry Engagement team as State Manager Industry Engagement, Western Australia to drive opportunities for future workforce, skills and training requirements.

The State Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to build BSA’s Industry Engagement strategy, ensuring awareness of the key challenges and priorities within their jurisdiction and helping to propose initiatives to address them.  Working collaboratively across BSA, their insights will inform workforce planning activities and will support the stakeholder engagement requirements of key projects.

The ideal candidate

With enthusiasm to contribute to a clear and compelling vision for the organisation’s future, the ideal candidate will bring outstanding communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder base in the residential, commercial, civil, infrastructure and property services industry sectors.  The ability to collaborate widely to streamline operations and drive best practice will be essential, with key competencies in reporting and working with stakeholders to develop proposed solutions and provide advice. A background and existing networks in relevant industries will be highly advantageous, as will an understanding of the national skills and training system.

Applications close:  24 May 2024.
