The Business Development Manager - Queensland will make a significant contribution to sustainable financial performance by developing strong commercial relationships throughout nominated market segments. The successful candidate will identify and undertake initial evaluation of prospects and opportunities, and provide meaningful and up to date reports.
Duties
1. Maintain contact with the wider industry, in particular private clients, government and consultants, to achieve:
a. Repeat business relationships with existing and new high value clients
b. Detailed knowledge of what jobs are coming out when, and how they will be delivered
c. Knowledge of who is pursuing what
d. Continually updated project tracking and reporting
e. Awareness of market conditions, future trends and opportunities
2. Lobbying of all industry participants as appropriate to:
a. Assist jobs being tailored to suit BMD requirements and secure opportunities for negotiated outcomes
b. Gain detailed understanding of client primary concerns and objectives
3. Identify particular project/client prospects in consultation with operations:
a. To provide early and informed advice as to opportunities of interest
b. To assist in developing winning strategies before the tender period commences
c. To assist with tender submissions as required
d. To provide input into the post tender process, as and when required
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have established relationships including but not limited too:
- Various government agencies such as Department of Transport and Main Roads and local councils
- Design Consultants
- Residential and Urban development groups
- Relevant business development experience with a civil contractor or previous experience in sales for a supplier, or subcontractor to the civil and engineering industry.
- Proven high conversion rate from project identification to being invited to tender.
