Job Scope/Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for creating new business opportunities within the fleet fuel business, acquiring new clients and ensuring their needs are met by being the lead point of contact for all client matters, anticipating needs, working within the company to ensure deadlines are met, and helping the client succeed.
The Role and Responsibilities
Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities through effective prospecting and engagement using appropriate sales disciplines
Manage new accounts for an agreed period of time before handover to the Releationships Team
Deliver sales growth and achieve target volumes for customer base, including targets for.
Share of Wallet growth
Product cross sales - Network and card offer to meet maximum client requirements
Margin responsibility, delivering other services that enrich the overall profitability of the account
Deliver ongoing contract based sales on pre agreed terms.
Optimise customer profitability by execution of defined rate management policy & initiatives
Work closely with all internal stakeholders to deliver a ‘best in class’ service
Maximise Value-added-Services and cross-selling opportunities to improve customer retention
Create innovative solutions working alongside Marketing to acquire new customers
Input into product development and work with Commercial and Product Teams to meet customer's needs more effectively
Coordinate and respond to tender requests with the aim of winning new business
Develop a solid and trusting relationship between major key clients and company, resolving key client issues and complaints
Plan and present reports on progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, and for possible use in future case studies or company training
Knowledge, Skills and Personal attributes
A minimum of 5 years experience as a BDM or professional sales manager
Solid sales experience in the B2B environment, ideally with knowledge of the fuel card/ charge card sector.
Good working knowledge of SalesForce or similar CRM systems.
Participated in recognised/accredited sales training and key account management courses.
A collaborative individual with the ability to manage the balance between the operational requirements of the business whilst achieving sales targets
The ability to develop and implement a business plan to stimulate revenue growth, deploying support strategies through the management of virtual internal support teams.
Introduces new ways of doing things, new products, services or system
Plans and delivers projects that go beyond short-term gains.
Able to juggle many moving parts and orchestrate deals and long-term plans that align with a mutually beneficial strategy.
Makes specific changes in the system or in own work methods to improve performance against KPIs (e.g., does something better, faster, at a lower cost, more efficiently; improves quality, customer satisfaction, morale).
