About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure. The Networks and Assets Branch looks after the assets that connect our communities and their purpose is to make regional and outer metropolitan NSW a better place to live, work and visit. This role will allow you to develop your skills and gain exposure to types of work that you just won't find anywhere else.
The Opportunity
Right now, we have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced Business Operations Manager to join us in the Network & Assets Branch. This role will coordinate high-level business support services to ensure the efficient functioning of the Section. The role will also contribute to the management of all cross-functional issues affecting the group such as safety, financial and human resources (HR) management, business processes, reporting, strategic planning, and organisational improvement.
This role is attached to our Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division and offers the great opportunity to live in regional NSW including places such as Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Parkes, Narrabri or even Broken Hill.
Some of your key accountabilities will include:
- Coordinate business planning processes for the unit, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and initiatives.
- Lead the business support functions for the section to ensure alignment with corporate, division and branch strategies and initiatives including collection and reporting of business performance information.
- Provide advice, technical expertise and operational support to the unit and the division’s main functions on a wide variety of business matters, including HR, finance, and procurement.
- Prepare complex correspondence, briefing notes and reports in relation to specific projects, initiatives and issues ensuring that submissions are accurate, timely and have appropriate approvals.
- Contribute to the sound financial management for the unit/ branch including planning, budgeting, reporting and control.

About you
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in analysing and reporting on business performance and the ability to identify critical opportunities and deviations. Experience in financial reporting and finance systems and an understanding of program structures will enable your success in this role.
- You’re a strong communicator and influential team player, working closely with a range of stakeholders to inspire direction, develop the skills and competencies across the business and drive change and overcome challenges.
- You understand that effective planning and performance reporting is the key to improvement, risk mitigation and cost-saving opportunities. Knowing this, you always take pride in your work and demonstrate attention to detail when putting together reports and recommendations. It’s no secret that you will encounter challenges in this role and we are looking for someone who thrives under pressure and is energised by the challenges presented in our complex and ever-changing work environment.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS Grade 11 ($145,203 - $154,934) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
