About the role:
Building on our continued success and growth, we are creating an experienced team for a suite of major rail infrastructure projects in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Sector Director to lead our Major Projects (Systems Engineering and Integration) service offerings based in Sydney, NSW.
In this role, you will lead the business sector in the Australian region, including developing the business sector strategy, marketing and account plans, resourcing and associated recruitment and overseeing the successful delivery of consultancy contracts within the sector.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and deliver services using advanced systems engineering and assurance practices.
- Oversea the management of engagements and provide leadership support of engineering teams in the delivery of projects to clients within the related designated practice.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the UK based SESA specialists team.
- Develop and grow the business sector, by managing teams in the tender and sales activities, identifying opportunities for new or follow-on work, following up leads in areas of expertise and fostering positive relationships with clients and potential clients.
- Support the Regional Director and State Managers in executing the endorsed marketing and account plans including attending sales calls with clients, attending and speaking at conferences, and actively promoting thought leadership and broad market engagement;
- Build strong client relationships with a cross section of clients as identified in client account plans and as agreed with the Regional Director and State Managers;
- Identify resource requirements to provide the necessary consultancy skills and resources to deliver the sector’s services in the region drawing from employees in NRC, Network Rail and external partners. Participate in the recruitment of resources, as per NRC process;
- Act as project director or manager on consultancy contracts at both the bid and project execution phases;
- Ensure Business Sector Resources are adequately allocated to meet regional project needs and that resources meet billability target requirements. Participate in resource management and planning meetings;
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- Significant and demonstrable expertise and experience in the business sector;
- Project Director experience with exposure to Systems Integration/Systems Engineering;
- Ability to relate to other people with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Highly motivated self-starter;
- Well-developed skills in problem solving and written/verbal communication, collaborative working and time/priority management;
- Strong commercial focus with regards to contract and project management; and
- Substantive experience in growing business and building/developing teams in a senior consultancy or professional advisory role.
Desirable
- Qualified to at least a degree level (or equivalent for the sector area) within a relevant area;
- Membership of relevant professional body.
