About the role:
We are seeking a pro-active and highly motivated Business Support Officer/Coordinator to lead our Human Resources team and proactively engage in business improvement and strategic projects for Crime Command.
HR functions are a core priority; however, this position is utilised to support the divisional manager and Assistant Commissioner of Crime Command and requires a dynamic and enthusiastic person to engage with stakeholders to improve business functions and support operational objectives.
The Business Support Officer/Coordinator reports to the Unit Manager of People, Development and Business Services Unit within the Business Services Division and directly manages 1 VPS 2 HR Officer. The role manages all aspects of the Crime Command establishment and vacancy management processes, including external secondments, assignment positions and establishment of taskforces.

Your duties will include:
  • Proactively conduct analysis of people data to identify risk and opportunities for business and process improvement.
  • Liaising with stakeholders on behalf of Crime Command on complex issues surrounding people management and governance.
  • Provide strategic advice on a range of business functions including human resources, risk and IR platforms to inform decision making across the command.
  • Actively manage the Crime Command establishment for both police officers and Victorian Public Servants, including recruitment, cessation and transfer activities and oversee the onboarding and cessation/transfer processes.
  • Manage the creation and decommissioning of taskforces on behalf of the Crime Command Assistant Commissioner and Commander.
  • Seek opportunities to improve the delivery of human resource and business activities across Crime Command.

  • A high degree of flexibility with regard to completing tasks that may be outside your typical role description.
Requirements and relevant information:
  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
