As one of Queensland’s earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: to protect, conserve, and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State.
We currently have an opportunity for a passionate and motivated Cafe Chef or experienced Cook to join our kitchen on a part-time basis. If you think you encompass our company values of Welcoming, Efficient, Safe and Fun, please read on!
About the Role
As our Cafe Chef or Cook you will assist with a variety of tasks ranging from food preparation and cooking for a cafe menu serving breakfast & lunch, group catering preparation for functions and events to baking of in-house goods such as pies, cakes, muffins, and slices.
You will ensure food products are stored, prepared, and served safely in accordance with restaurant and government food safety policies and typical shifts will range from 6.30 am to 4.00 pm across a 7-day roster. There will also be occasional night work for functions and events as required.
About You
You will ideally have 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen with great attention to detail and a friendly, positive attitude.
Other key skills and attributes we are looking for include:
Experience with food preparation in a fast-paced hospitality environment and genuine commitment to food safety.
Availability to work between 6.30 am to 4.00 pm and occasional later nights for functions/events bookings, as well as weekend shifts and School Holiday periods.
Self-directed with excellent time management and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
Hardworking and cooperative with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Cert 4 in Commercial Cookery will be highly regarded.
