Our Community is made up of diverse people from all walks of life, and it's important to us that our workforce represents and celebrates this strength.

We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with diverse culture and linguistic backgrounds and people with disability.

About the role
In this newly created 24 month role, you will engage with vulnerable Cultural & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families across the municipality to maximise attendance at kindergartens. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support Cultural & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families to make the transition into kindergarten and following their kindergarten years into primary school;
  • Develop, design and implement high quality, evidence-based activities to support CALD children's attendance at kindergarten;
  • Advocate strongly for CALD families to have a seamless transition into kindergarten and primary school;
  • Build and maintain relationships with both local ECEC educators and Early Childhood Teachers and staff in the primary school sector; and
  • Develop relationships with community service providers, who work with refugees, asylum seekers and CALD families, in order to support inclusion into kindergarten and transition to primary school.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working in an Early Years Education or Community Development setting. You will be confident in liasing with a diverse range of people, with high levels of respect, empathy and integrity and have a professional approach to your work.

Essential Experience:
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding in supporting the planning and evaluating of inclusive early childhood programs
  • Experience in utilising a strength based, people centred approach to working with children and families from a CALD background
  • Ability to liaise, persuade and negotiate with a range of people and organisations to build relationships and working partnerships
  • Fluency in a language other than English and experience working in kindergarten/childcare centres would be advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education, Community Development or a Social Services field
The health and safety of our people is our highest priority. It is our current policy to ask for your COVID-19 vaccination status.
