Combining world-class clinical care, research, education and training, all in the same facility, with inpatient and outpatient services, intensive care, cardiac emergency, surgical theatres, cardiac catheterisation labs, diagnostic imaging, cardiac clinics, rehabilitation, pathology and pharmacy, to improve patient outcomes. The heart hospital is architecturally designed to enhance the patient’s experience in an open warm space with natural light and access to landscaped outdoor spaces to positively impact clinical outcomes.
Cardiac Theatre
With a range of Australian-first cardiac services, the Victorian Heart Hospital will house three purpose-built cardiac theatres, catering for a large range of cardiac surgeries. Once fully operational, each year the heart hospital will provide 2000 open heart surgeries in a ground-breaking facility with advanced surgical capacity.
Cardiac Theatre Registered Nurses
The Victorian Heart Hospital is truly the best place for a Cardiac Theatre Registered Nurse to advance their clinical expertise and undertake further education. As a cardiac theatre nurse, you’re a vital and valued member of a talented multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing high quality care across all aspects of perioperative care. Key responsibilities include maintaining a sterile environment for patients and surgical teams combined with providing holistic, evidence-based patient-centred care pre, during and after surgery. You’ll be fully supported to expand your clinical expertise whether it be writing research papers or pursue education pathways via Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) or Postgraduate studies.

What you bring
Working closely with a multidisciplinary cardiac theatre, you bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
Recent proven experience within perioperative setting, essential
Postgraduate qualification in perioperative nursing/ or working towards, desirable
Excellent perioperative care with demonstrated skills in anaesthetics/recovery and/or scrub/scout
Current AHPRA registration and eligibility to work in Australia
Clear, articulate communicator with exceptional time management skills and sound computer skills
Role modelling clinical excellence in nursing coupled with ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict
Ability to work independently as well as consult and collaborate within a team to deliver outcomes
