What you'll be doing
The CMO is responsible for the day to day medical are of the newborn babies in the Nursery, Short Stay Ward and Post Natal Ward. The CMO is expected to review paediatric patients (birth to
16 years) initially assessed by the Auburn Emergency Department Staff. The CMO will assist the ED medical staff with acute paediatric emergencies and procedures such as LP, IV cannulation and catherisation to collect sterile urine samples.
The CMO will attend to high risk deliveries on labour ward or in the operating theatres, provide neonatal resuscitation as required, and manage neonatal problems in the nursery such as respiratory disress, prematurity, hypoglucaemia, suspected sepsis and jaundice.
The CMO will carry out routine new Baby Check as per guidelines in the post natal ward.
- MBBS or equivalent and currently registered, or eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia
- Minimum of 5 years of post graduate experience through various rotations in a public hospital. One year of recent experience in general paediatrics and 6 months of recent experience in neonatal medicine.
- Paediatric Basic Life Support Course attendance or certificate. Advanced lPaediatric life support course or certificate.
- Demonstrated commitment to further education and professional development.
- Possess effective communication skills in interactions with staff, carers and other health care workers.
