Position Title: Casual Pathology Collector - SydPath
Employment Type: Casual
Hours per week: Up to 10 hours per week
Position Grade: Modern Award Support Services Level 5
Salary: $25.60 base per hour
Employment Agreement: Health Professionals and Support Services Modern Award 2010

Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Pathology Collector with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.

The successful applicant's duties will include the collection of pathology samples, liaising with medical and laboratory staff with some administrative duties.
The successful applicant will also preferably have 6 months experience in the vacutainer method of pathology collection.

Where a candidate engages in secondary employment St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney (SVHS) will require a risk assessment be undertaken and take steps to mitigate the risks and SVHS reserves the right to decline the application for secondary employment.

Selection Criteria
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
2. Certificate III in Pathology Collections and/or previous experience in venepuncture or a demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the Department.
3. Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a clinical environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff.
4. Demonstrated problem solving and trouble shooting skills, with the ability to resolve general issues within the clinical environment.
5. Familiarity with pathology terminology and requirements and the willingness to learn blood collections.
6. Willingness to participate in shift type work.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and to maintain high quality work output under pressure.
8. Excellent computer skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy.
