Job description

Old Kempton Distillery is looking for an experienced, service-minded, and motivated individual, with a genuine love of tourism and spirits, to lead our Cellar Door/Café team. 

A restructure has resulted in us seeking a full time Cellar Door/Cafe Manager to join the team at our home in the historic Dysart House, located 40 minutes north of Hobart, open 7 days a week.

Old Kempton Distillery is a Tasmanian owned business, founded in 2012, with a vision of being ‘The Tasmanian Artisan Distillery’. We use time-honoured methods to produce single malt whisky, gin, and liqueurs, that we share with customers across Australia, and around the world. 

As Old Kempton Distillery’s (OKD) Cellar Door/Café Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing the hospitality operations of the Cellar Door, Café, and Salamanca Market stall and will be an active participant of the Management team, reporting directly to the C.E.O. You will manage and lead a friendly team of casual and full-time staff, with an emphasis on delivering exceptional customer experiences across all facets of our hospitality operations, including merchandising, tastings of our range of spirits and liqueurs, tours, café, and other services. You will want to evolve our customer’s experience.

You will already have cellar door experience, may currently be working in management, a person looking for a challenge or to take that next step in your career. In previous roles you will have been preparing and serving meals and will have demonstrated how you are proactive in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospitality functions of the business and have been able to adapt to changing priorities. You will be familiar with POS, stock management systems and the Office 365 Suite of software. 

You will want to build a passion for our products, have a strong focus on presentation with an attention to detail and have the desire to deliver a unique and memorable experience to customers in line with our brand identity.  Additionally, you will take pride in developing these skills in others and achieving results as part of a team.

Ideally you will have a: 

  • Food Safety Supervisor Skillset 
  • Cert III in Tourism or Hospitality 
  • Current RSA 
  • First aid certificate 
  • Driver’s license

Due to the nature of the business and your role as Cellar Door/Café Manager, your roster will include weekend work, and you may be required to work at night at an event.
