About the role
In this leadership position, you will be responsible for the establishment, management and leadership of Geelong’s newest and one of the region’s largest indoor leisure centres. With the centre due to open early 2024 , you will be involved in all aspects of the centre set up and the ongong management post opening.
Key responsibilities include:
Pre-open planning and establishment of key performance areas including
Workforce planning (including recruitment)
Financial and business planning (including setting of KPI’s)
Standard operating procedures
Facility activation and membership sales campaign
Establishment of a suite of programs that meet the distinct needs of this community and exceeds expectations.
Support the department strategic planning, and lead Centre business planning.
Coach, inspire and lead a high performing team to drive culture and employee engagement, and enhance capability and skills.
Development of Centre budget and accountability for business performance.
Drive sales and marketing initiatives to grow membership, participation and occupancy of the comminuty hall.
Northern Aquatic and Community Hub Features
1000 square metres of multi-purpose community Hall
A 25-metre pool, warm water pool, Learn to Swim pool, water play area and waterslide
Spa, sauna, and steam room
A centrally located café
A gymnasium, group exercise studios, program rooms and occasional care facilities
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced leader within the Leisure industry, with experience leading large teams and driving positive culture within the workplace. You will be highly organised, enjoy problem solving, engaging with a diverse range of people, have professional approach to your work and a continuous improvement mindset.
Essential Experience:
Demonstrated facility management experience leading a dynamic and complex business operation, preferably in the management of public community leisure and recreation facilities.
Broad knowledge of sports and leisure concepts and trends including a sound knowledge of the latest technology and programs.
Ability to develop and support leaders to deliver on KPIs through engagement, performance planning and individual development plans.
Experience in planning and execution of operational, financial and people plans to deliver successful outcomes.
Ability to plan, interpret and implement business, marketing, promotional and maintenance plans for the Centre.
Demonstrated experience in implementation and monitoring of OH&S system, including policies, procedures, work systems, certification, training and advice.
Tertiary qualification in recreation or sports management or related discipline with several years related experience, or less formal qualifications and extensive related experience
